M60 closed between Middleton and Chadderton due to police incident - latest updates

The M60 in Greater Manchester is closed clockwise between J20 (Middleton) and J21 (Chadderton) due to a Police led incident. Emergency services including North West Motorway Police Group are in attendance.

National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene to assist with traffic management. A diversion route has been put in place.

The anti-clockwise carriageway is now also closed. Motorists heading in this direction are being asked to seek alternative routes.

Diverted traffic is advised to follow the solid diamond diversion symbol: Exit the M60 clockwise at J20; At the junction with the A664, turn right and join the A664 (Rochdale Road) southbound; Continue until the junction with the A6104; Turn left and join the A6104 (Victoria Avenue East) eastbound; Continue until the junction with the A663; Turn left and join the A663 (Broadway) northbound; Continue until the M60 J21 entry slip road, and then turn right to re-join the M60 clockwise

An update from traffic monitoring service Inrix at 3.06am said: "M60 in both directions closed due to police incident from J20 A664 Manchester New Road (Higher Blackley) to J21 A6104 (Hollinwood)."
