LIVE: Police cordon in place with forensics at the scene of entrance to Fallowfield Loop - latest updates

A police cordon is in place tonight on a popular walking and cycling route. The entrance to the Fallowfield Loop on Ryderbrow Road in Gorton has been taped off by police.

Officers are standing guard and preventing people accessing the route which runs along a former railway line and runs from Chorlton in south Manchester to Fairfield in Tameside. The access point which is cordoned off is near Woodland Avenue and Stainton Avenue.

Specialist forensic crime scene investigation officers are at the scene carrying enquiries.

The nature of the incident is not yet clear. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have been approached for comment.
