LIVE: Travel warning issued as police called out to railway line near Bolton - latest updates
Police are in attendance on a railway line near Bolton following reports of trespassing. National Rail says officers are in attendance on the line between Bolton and Preston this morning (December 31).
The incident is affecting services TransPennine Express services running between Lancashire and Manchester. Disruption is expected to continue this morning.
A spokesperson for National Rail said: "A trespass incident between Preston and Bolton means trains running between these stations may be delayed by up to 30 minutes, cancelled or diverted. Disruption is expected until 11:00.
"Some services may be diverted via an alternative route between Preston and Manchester and may not call at Bolton. If the train you have a ticket for is cancelled, you can travel on any TransPennine Express or Northern service within the two hours before or after your cancelled service.
"The police are on site investigating the incident." British Transport Police has been approached for further details.
