LIVE: Police close section of M60 after lorry overturns - latest updates

Police have closed off an exit slip road off the M60 this morning after a lorry overturned.

The anticlockwise exit slip at junction 14 for the East Lancashire Road is currently fully shut. It is likely to remain shut for 'some time', motorway police said.

Officers posted pictures of the overturned lorry at the scene. The driver suffered 'minor injuries'.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the area. A tweet posted by the North West Motorway Police said: "We are in the process of closing the exit slip on M60 anticlockwise at j14 to the A580 due to a Police incident."

A further tweet added: "The exit slip at j14 M60 acw to A580 will be closed for some time, thankfully minor injuries, please avoid the area."

According to traffic alert service Inrix, traffic is heavy in the surrounding area with congestion to the M60 junction 17 and the M61 junction two.

The exit slip at junction 14 that is currently shut is onto the A580 East Lancashire Road.

Traffic is expected to be busy through the morning rush-hour.
