LIVE Major police presence in South Manchester with road taped off - updates
A road in South Manchester has been closed by police after an incident earlier today.
Officers have taped off part of Wood Road at the junction with Upper Chorlton Road. Witnesses have also reported seeing Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) at the scene.
The North West Ambulance Service has confirmed that an air ambulance was called to the area, alongside paramedics.

One witness reported spotting at least 9 police cars in the area. A moped can be seen on the ground behind the cordon, close to where CSI officers are working.
The MEN has approached GMP for more information.

We have been told the incident was a stabbing in which two officers were injured. We understand one of them was taken to hospital, although neither have sustained life-threatening injuries.

One eyewitness has told the M.E.N:
I drove past about 16:20 and noticed a couple of police cars there, and what looked to be possibly a motorbike on the floor with some damage to the kerb and nearby wall.
I drove past again on my way home 15 minutes latert and it was cordoned off with loads of police cars there. I could see further police and unmarked police coming from further down the
