LIVE: Major Greater Manchester road closed in both directions following crash
A busy road has been closed in both directions following a crash. Police were called to Greengate, Middleton following reports of the incident this afternoon (July 3).
One person was left with injuries not believed to be life threatening. One man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
Pictures from the scene show a cordon in place, with two vehicles severely damaged with police securing the scene.
According to witnesses, police are redirecting traffic, leading to further congestion in the area.
A Spokesperson for GMP said: "Police was called called at around 1.45pm to a crash on Greengate. One person received injuries not believed to be life-threatening or changing at this time.
"One male has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving."
According to traffic monitoring tool Inrix, traffic in the area is returning to normal.
Greater Manchester Police say two people were injured in the crash.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At just before 2pm today (Thursday 3 July) crews were called to Greengate in Chadderton, to a crash involving two cars.
“Two engines from Chadderton and Hollins fire stations attended. Two people were injured in the incident, and were assessed by the fire service trauma team before being passed into the care of North West Ambulance Service.
“Crews helped to make the area safe, and were on the scene for around 30 minutes.”
