LIVE M62 traffic as air ambulance scrambled and police fully close motorway
Emergency services are on the scene following an incident on the M62 this afternoon (May 26).
All traffic has been held in both directions. The M.E.N. understands police are in attendance following a collision involving several vehicles.
An air ambulance is believed to have landed at the scene.
The incident occurred close to junction 22 of the motorway. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternative travel arrangements where possible.
Congestion is building in both directions following the accident, which took place on the eastbound section of the motorway.

National Highways has revised its traffic time expectations.
The incident is now expected to clear between 9.30 and 9.45pm.
A return to normal conditions is now expected between 10.15pm and 10.30pm.
The motorway is no longer fully closed, but two out of four lanes heading eastbound remain shut.
Normal traffic conditions are expected to resume between 9.00 and 9.15pm, according to National Highways
National Highways is warning of delays of up to 50 minutes.
Congestion is building on the M62.
The motorway is now blocked in both directions because of the accident.
Traffic service Inrix has said: "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on M62 in both directions from J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor) to J21 A6193 Sir Isaac Newton Way (Milnrow).
"Due to an accident on the eastbound side, westbound side closed to allow a air ambulance to land."
