A police officer has told our reporter at the scene emergency services were called out after a boy 'fell into the river'. It is understood he was playing on the railings with his friends and fell back into the water.
He has been recovered safely and is being assessed by paramedics but is believed not to have life-threatening injuries. Greater Manchester Police have been approached for more details on this ongoing incident.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just before 6pm this evening (Sunday 4th June), one fire engine from Ramsbottom fire station along with the Technical Response Unit from Ashton was called to an incident at Burrs Country Park.
“Crews arrived quickly at scene and have been in attendance for around an hour.”
