Major emergency services presence at beach as people told to avoid area – live updates
A heavy emergency services presence has descended on a Welsh beach following reports of a medical emergency. Police have asked people to avoid Aberavon beach.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called on Monday, June 19, to reports of a medical emergency at Mariners Quay, Port Talbot. We sent one emergency ambulance, two rapid response vehicles, a duty operations manager, and our crews were support by Wales Air Ambulance.”
A South Wales Police spokesman said: "Emergency services are at the scene of an ongoing incident at Aberavon beach. Please avoid the area. Further information will be released when available."
