LIVE: High school evacuated over 'threatening email' with police called in - latest updates

A high school has been evacuated after it was sent a 'threatening message' on email today.

Matthew Moss High School, in Rochdale, issued an alert to parents and the public on social media, confirming Greater Manchester Police officers have been called in.

The school said 'all learners and staff' were safe.

In a statement on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday, the school said: "Matthew Moss High School have received a threatening message by email and have evacuated the school as a precaution. All learners and staff are safe and the police are in attendance

"Please do not travel to the school at this time to allow police and staff to manage the situation."

The nature of the message hasn't been revealed and there are no further details.

It's understood pupils at the high school have been evacuated to nearby Springfield Park as a result.

Parents who have spoken with their children have posted on social media to say pupils 'seem to be OK' and were following the advice of teachers.

The school is on Matthew Moss Lane in the Marland area of Rochdale, off Bolton Road where Springfield Park is located.

The Manchester Evening News has contacted GMP for further comment and details.

The school has said police have carried out a full search and all those evacuated are now returning.

Greater Manchester Police has issued a statement, saying the school has been searched and 'no threat' has been found.

A GMP spokesperson said:

At around 12noon today (Monday 29 April), officers received reports of a threat being made towards a school on Matthew
