LIVE: Gridlock on Oxford Road as city centre 'jammed with 100 buses'
Manchester city centre is at a "stand still" with multiple queues in the area due to heavy traffic. According to an eye witness, buses and cars are stuck in traffic on Oxford Road, Portland Street and St Peter's Square this evening (Tuesday, July 22).
Videos from the location show multiple buses, taxis and cars lined up behind one another with little to no movement. According to the Bee Network, the gridlock is due to rush hour traffic and roadworks in the city centre.
The travel group says services impacted are experiencing delays of 20 to 30 minutes.
A Bee Network travel update reads: "Due to congestion and roadworks in the city centre some services are experiencing delays. Ticket acceptance is in place for bus passengers on all Metrolink lines, please show your ticket to Metrolink inspectors if required."
