LIVE: Delays on M61, M62 and major Greater Manchester road - traffic updates

Drivers are facing rush hour delays on three key routes around Greater Manchester following separate incidents.

Long queues have formed on the M62 eastbound following a crash between junctions 11 at Birchwood and 12 at the M60 Eccles Interchange this morning (September 30).

One lane of traffic has been closed in the area, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring service.

Queues appear to be tailing back past the M6 at junction 10, near Warrington, while drivers are also facing delays on the M6 southbound approaching the M62 at junction 21A.

Meanwhile, two separate incidents have also caused major queues around Bolton this morning.

There are 'long delays' on the A666 St Peter's Way northbound, affecting drivers heading from the M60 to Bolton town centre.

The road is currently closed northbound between Raikes Lane and Bradford Street, according to Google data.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At around 7.10 this morning, officers were called to reports regarding a concern for welfare of a man on the A666, near Bradford Street. Emergency services attended and a man was safely taken from the area."

Traffic was also briefly stopped on the M61 southbound earlier this morning following a collision between junctions five at Westhoughton and four at Farnworth.

Traffic is moving again through the area, but some delays remain.

Queues of around 30 minutes have also built up on the M61 approaching the M60 at the Swinton Interchange.
