LIVE: Cordon in place as A56 closed after serious crash - latest updates
A major road in Trafford has been closed this afternoon after a 'serious' crash.
A cordon is currently in place on the A56 Manchester Road in West Timperley, near Altrincham.
Eyewitnesses said a car and a motorbike had been involved in a collision.
Police, paramedics and fire crews have all been pictured at the scene, near St Albans Church at the junction with Lindsell Road.
A Bee Network spokesperson said: "Due to a serious road traffic collision, further road closures are in place along A56 Manchester Road.
"Severe delays are expected to impact 245, 247, 249, 263, 281 & 282 bus services. Tickets and passes are being accepted on the Altrincham Metrolink line."
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have been approached for further information.

An eyewitness said there was a collision between a grey SUV and a motorbike.
"The motorbike looks like it was going towards Manchester from Altrincham area" they said. "The car looks like it was turning right into Lindsell Road - travelling towards Altrincham from the Sale side."
The road is currently closed between the junctions with Park Road and Stamford Brook Road.
There is 'very slow traffic' according to the traffic service Inrix.
The Bee Network has just issued a statement regarding the 'serious road traffic collision' which is causing 'severe delays' in the area and affecting bus services.
They said on social media:
Due to a serious road traffic collision, further road closures are in place along A56 Manchester Road.
Severe delays are expected to impact 245, 247, 249, 263, 281 & 282 bus services.
Tickets and passes are being accepted on the Altrincham Metrolink line.
