LIVE as boy stabbed in Manchester city centre with huge police cordon - updates

A huge cordon has been erected by police in Manchester city centre this evening after a boy was stabbed.

A number of police vehicles are at the scene on Portland Street, near to Piccadilly Gardens, with the busy main road currently taped off.

GMP say officers were first called at 8.15pm after a boy was stabbed. He was taken to hospital with injuries that are not described as life-threatening.

Buses are being diverted, with a large cordon stretching from the Jamboree restaurant to the junction with Aytoun Street.

Videos shared on social media show a number of police cars in attendance, with officers standing at either end of the tape.

It's understood the male was stabbed nearby, on Portland Street.

The victim was stabbed near to the Piccadilly Gardens tram stop this evening, the M.E.N understands.

A large cordon remains in place on Portland Street as investigations continue.

No arrests have been made.
