Lisandro Martinez makes Manchester United prediction after FA Cup final defeat

Lisandro Martinez says he's 'certain' Manchester United will be a stronger force next season following Saturday’s FA Cup final defeat.

The defender did not feature in the 2-1 loss to Manchester City as he continues his recovery from a metatarsal fracture suffered in April. The summer signing wasa one of United’s best players this season and has become a cult hero among fans.

Martinez had played in United’s first final of the season when he lifted the League Cup at Wembley in February. And he chose to take an optimistic view after United’s second showpiece of the campaign went against them.

Taking to Instagram he said: “It's all part of the process, we keep our heads up and are proud because this group gave their all until the last second. I'm certain that the good and positive thing about all of this is that we'll come back stronger!

“I finish my first season at this amazing club feeling really fortunate and happy to be part of the United family. Thank you very much to everyone and see you soon!”

Martinez has had a season to remember having lifted the World Cup for Argentina in December. At United he usurped club captain Harry Maguire in the starting XI and is now the first-choice centre-half alongside Raphael Varane.

The 25-year-old is expected to be back from injury in time for pre-season following successful surgery on his injury in April. He has played 45 games for United and scored his first Reds goal against Arsenal in January.
