Lionel Messi: Sergio Aguero calls out French media after PSG star's display vs Real Madrid
Lionel Messi has come under fire for his performances for Paris Saint-Germain this season.
The Argentine was expected to tear it up for the French giants but he has not performed to the level expected of him.
He’s scored just seven times in 21 games for PSG so far in 2021/22, a poor return for someone of his calibre.
His struggles continued on Tuesday evening in PSG’s Champions League last-16 first leg tie against Real Madrid at the Parc des Princes.
In truth, Messi didn’t have a bad game, but he spurned a golden opportunity to score from the penalty spot.
Kylian Mbappe scored a late winner to ensure PSG went into the second leg with an advantage but Messi’s display was still a talking point.
Outlets in France slated his display, with L’Equipe even going as far as giving him a rating of 3/10. Only Dani Carvajal (2/10) was given a worse rating.
Sergio Aguero is a close friend of Messi and he hit back at the French newspapers for their treatment of his compatriot.
"TENÍA UNA ENTREVISTA CON UNA REVISTA DE FRANCIA. AGARRÉ Y LES DIJE NO, AGUANTE LIO MESSI. CORTA. NOS VEMOS" el Kun bancó a su mejor amigo.
