Lionel Messi has sent Man United Manuel Ugarte warning Roy Keane will hate

In recent years, you cannot complete a Premier League matchday weekend without Roy Keane looking bemused by the actions of players.

The former Manchester United captain belongs to the old school where players played the game with ferocity but did not get bogged down by silly drama on the pitch, which had nothing to do with the task at hand. United's squad have never been protected from Keane's tirades either.

Back in October, Keane showed how low a threshold he has for nonsense on the pitch when he lambasted Bruno Fernandes after the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at Old Trafford. "Today, having watched him again, I would take the captaincy off him 100 percent," he told Sky Sports' Super Sunday.

"I know it's a big decision, obviously they changed the captaincy with [Harry] Maguire, but Fernandes is not captain material. He is a talented player no doubt about it.

"But what I saw today - we've discussed many times before, it was last season at Liverpool - his whinging, his moaning and throwing his arms up in the air constantly. It really isn't acceptable. From what we saw today, I'm thinking I would take that off him."

So having established Keane's thoughts on player standards, it is unlikely he will be impressed by newly linked United player Manuel Ugarte's actions just a month after his Fernandes rant. On Tuesday, reports circulated that the PSG midfielder is of interest to the Reds as they search for a replacement defensive midfielder with Casemiro's future in doubt.
