Liel Abada Celtic transfer exit talk intensifies as Ajax 'in the hunt' for Israeli star

Ajax have been linked with a move for Liel Abada with the Israeli winger’s future at Celtic the source of intense speculation.

The Dutch giants “have been watching him this season and are monitoring his situation at the club” according to Sky Sports and add that "they are are positioning themselves to be in the hunt" for the player this summer. The 21-year-old hasn’t pulled on the Hoops for a month after picking up a muscle injury during International duty.

Abada was named as the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year last term, chipping in with 15 goals and 11 assists during his debut Scottish Premiership campaign, as well as making his breakthrough for the Israel national side. However, with the added competition of the likes of Sead Haksabanovic and the form of Jota and Daizen Maeda he has struggled for regular Celtic minutes this term. Israel boss Alon Hazan said that Abada's lack of game time could be down to him not agreeing a contract extension on improved terms, as his current deal has three-and-a-half years to run.

The president of his former club, Maccabi Petah Tikva, claimed he wants to leave Parkhead and will be sold this summer. But chief Avi Luzon, who banked £3.5million for his club after negotiating Abada's move to Parkhead last season, claimed his destination would be the English Premier League. But Sky Sports report that the Eredivisie side could make their move.
