Andy Walker dismisses 'ridiculous' Celtic red card call from Derek McInnes but worries over growing trend remain

Andy Walker says it's a dangerous game to start judging things on still images in the wake of Derek McInnes claiming for a Celtic red card for Oh.

The South Korean striker was alleged to have caught Liam Donnelly in the face with a high boot during his side's 4-1 win at Rugby Park, with all goals scored inside a devastating first half from Ange Postecoglou's men. McInnes felt the challenge was similar to one his striker Kyle Vassell made away at Hibs earlier this season, and the forward was red carded on that day.

But Walker told Go Radio that sending off Oh would have been mind-boggling and the trend of using still images when it comes to debate over key points leaving him concerned. The pundit explained: "The Vassell one at Easter Road was not a red card, it was a ridiculous decision, and you should stick with that as it would have been ridiculous had you sent Oh off.

"There was not aggressive motion, no violent conduct, there was actually no connection. A yellow card was sufficient.

"What we are in danger of now is looking at still images and thinking 'right, that must be a red.'"

McInnes said of the incident on Sky: "I thought there should've been a red card for Oh as well. We get Vassell sent off for a similar challenge at Easter Road and I don't know why VAR look because it's the same people on VAR that looked at the one at Easter Road.

"Liam Donnelly has got a full foot in the face. I don't want to see people sent off for that but my player got sent off at Easter Road. I do believe that that was a red card as well."
