Liam Rosenior reveals what he told Jason Knight with Derby County 'close' to transfers

Derby County boss Liam Rosenior is closing in on another two exciting players ... and has been tracking them for the last two months.

The interim boss has been eyeing up loans from the Premier League as he looks to add greater depth to his squad after signing 11 players so far this summer.

A winger, a goalkeeper and another attacker are believed to be on the agenda after the Rams got their season off to a fine start with a 1-0 win over Oxford United on Saturday.

Negotiations are ongoing but Rosenior is hopeful the new players will be arriving at Pride Park in the not too distant future.

"We're really close," he said. "I can't give too much away but they are a couple of exciting players at the top end. There are negotiations and talks but they are players we've pinpointed for a long time. They are players I've wanted for the last two months and hopefully they can come to fruition."

Rosenior confirmed he is also looking for a right-back after Jason Knight started in that position for the win over Karl Robinson's side. Despite being a midfielder by trade, Knight did an excellent job as the Rams kept a clean sheet in what was a solid team performance. But Rosenior had praise for the Republic of Ireland international for his display at the weekend.

"I know Jason Knight was magnificent at right-back but I have assured him I am looking for one," he said. He showed what he is about and whatever you ask Jason Knight to do, he will do it at the highest level he possibly can. He epitomises what I want. He is a manager's dream and was outstanding."
