Flying Lewis Ferguson is Bologna's 'warrior' - and never turns in anything less than a 10 out of 10 display.

That's the view of beaming boss Thiago Motta who is running out of superlatives for his midfield enforcer. Ferguson has taken to life in Italy like a duck to water since leaving Aberdeen nearly two years ago and his value continues to skyrocket in Serie A. He wears the captain's armband now and scored his 13th Bologna goal on Sunday night, a stunning low volley to seal a win against Atalanta that sent them fourth in the table.

Qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in their history is in their sights as they have only ever played in the top European competition once before...all the way back in 1964/65. Ferguson could be the first skipper to take them there since then. And the Scotland cap's captain's role has delighted his manager - former Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, PSG and Inter Milan legend Motta - who knows a thing or two about playing in midfield.

He said: "I always give Lewis Ferguson 10 out of 10. Not just for the important goals he scores, but because he is a warrior and sets an example for his teammates.
