Leny Yoro 'opens door' to Man United transfer in huge boost after £55m bid accepted

Manchester United have reportedly received a boost in their attempts to convince Leny Yoro to choose them this summer rather than holding out for a move to Real Madrid.

Yoro, 18, is expected to leave Lille over the final month-and-a-half of the transfer window. United had an offer of around €65million (£55m) accepted by the French club last week, and Madrid are also in ongoing talks to sign the central defender.

The Spanish capital is said to be the player's preferred destination. That has seen Liverpool recently temper their interest, but United are not conceding to the European champions yet.

And now French football journalist Nabil Djellit is reporting that there is an open to United as they negotiate personal terms with the player. Talks are purportedly trending in the club's favour, with Madrid now said to be behind the Reds but still in contention to sign the teenager.

These reports come hours after The Athletic acknowledged that the Spanish club has shown no indication of coming close to matching the fee United have agreed with Lille. They add that has resulted in his club favouring doing a deal with the Reds.

Convincing the player is seemingly the priority right now, rather than concluding a move to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich, with whom United have already agreed personal terms. Those efforts to persuade Yoro persist, with it acknowledged that the expectation is only one or the other will sign this summer.
