Leigh Griffiths reunited with Celtic Covid pal as forgotten £3.5m man hits goal trail in Australia

Leigh Griffiths was reunited with former Celtic pal Patryk Klimala in Australia last night - four years after the doomed Covid season.

Neil Lennon splashed out £3.5million to sign Polish striker Klimala from Ekstraklasa side Jagiellonia Bialystok in January 2020. But after being brought in to ease the goalscoring burden on prolific Odsonne Edouard, Klimala found the net just three times in 28 appearances for the Parkhead side.

And tasked with adding the firepower to help Celts to Ten-In-A-Row, he proved a major flop in the definitive season as Steven Gerrard's Rangers stormed to an unbeaten Premiership title triumph.

Although the frontman was flogged to MLS side New York Red Bulls after less than 18 months in Glasgow, it appears the 26-year-old was a popular figure in the Hoops dressing room. And following a goalless draw away to Perth Glory, Klimala bumped into a familiar face in Griffiths. Now plying his trade with semi-pro Mandurah City in Western Australia, Hoops goal centurion Griffiths caught Klimala's attention from the stands as the pair caught up and posed for a picture.

Sharing the snap on Instagram, ex-Scotland star Griffiths wrote: "Great to catch up with the boy @patryklimala last night." Klimala reposted: "Was good to see you bro." In a forgettable season for the Glasgow
