Man City's dream line-up for 2025/26 could see Pep Guardiola reunited with Bayern Munich star
Plans are likely to already be well underway for what business Manchester City will hope to get over the line in the summer transfer window.
This season has so far been a campaign of disappointment for Pep Guardiola and Co. The Premier League title race has long been out of sight, and the Champions League campaign is officially over after their loss at the hands of Real Madrid earlier this month.
As a result, work will already be underway to get City prepared to return to the top of English and European football for next season. Some work has already been completed with the arrivals of Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis in January.
It remains to be seen which players will be targeted in the summer, but one player could be on the shortlist after the latest update. Reports in Germany have claimed that Bayern Munich have withdrawn a recent contract offer to Joshua Kimmich, with the versatile midfielder's current deal set to expire at the end of the season.
It's not just midfield where Kimmich has starred for Bayern in his career, but also at right-back. It's this versatility that could give City ideas of trying to sign the Germany international on a free transfer in the summer, should an extension with Bayern fail to be agreed.
With Kyle Walker leaving to join AC Milan in January, Guardiola has turned to Rico Lewis and Matheus Nunes at right-back since the former club captain's departure. Kimmich's arrival would give City another right-back option in the squad, as well as potentially being used in midfield when required.
