Leicester City player ratings as Praet shines & Daka bags first half goal at Hull

Leicester City lead Hull City 1-0 at half time in their pre-season friendly at the MKM Stadium thanks to a fine goal by Patson Daka before the half hour mark.

Daka and Dennis Praet combined to great effect to win the ball high in the Tigers’ danger zone and the forward then unleashed an exquisite finish to beat Matt Ingram.

Brendan Rodgers’ intention was to see as many of his first-team squad on this balmy evening in Hull as possible.

The first half side was a team which probably hasn’t played a hell of a lot of football together before, made up of second string players, players returning from injury and those who had been out on loan last season.

They began the better against a Hull outfit who were up for it in front of a very decent pre-season friendly turn-out. Daka had Tobias Figueieredo on toast at the back but couldn’t aim his shot on target. Moments later, captain Tielemans’ furious appeals for a penalty were waved away.

Hull were limited to precious little in the final third. Jannik Vestergaard had the measure of the bustling Oscar and Daniel Iversen was commanding in goal from set pieces.

The key moment in the first half came from a combination of excellent high pressing and finishing. Praet and Daka teamed up to rob Jean Michael Seri of the ball in Hull’s defensive third and the latter proceeded to bear down on goal and finish with aplomb.

Bar Iversen in goal, it’s all change in the second half.

Decisive. After a couple of errors in recent pre-season games, Iversen came for corners, punched clear and won aerial duels against Hull’s front-line.

A little loose with his passing here and there but Castagne is the perfect mould for a wing back and he spent as much time in Hull’s half as his own. Will come on for
