Leicester City ‘in pole position’ for Charles De Ketelaere transfer

Leicester City are leading the transfer race for Belgium international Charles De Ketelaere, according to reports.

The 21-year-old is one of the names to be most heavily linked with City ahead of the summer transfer window. He was originally linked with a move to the King Power Stadium during the January window with reports continuing over the last few months.

According to Italian outlet Il Mattino, both Napoli and Milan are interested in a potential move for the player but any transfer will be ‘complicated’ for the Serie A sides. The report goes on to say that City ‘seems’ to be in ‘pole position’ for a summer transfer should Club Brugge decide to cash in.

It is added that the Premier League ‘is looming’ with it being suggested that the player would prefer a move to England. Newcastle are also said to be interested in the player in the window.

De Ketelaere has been on international duty this week where he lined up alongside City midfielder Youri Tielemans. The forward played a part in both of Belgium’s games against Ireland and Burkina Faso, coming on as a substitute in Tuesday night’s game.

Speaking about his future, De Ketelaere hinted that he would be interested in a move to the Premier League. "If it (a transfer) can be done now, why not? The Premier League is the highest you can go,” he said . “That intensity too. In England, you become a better player.”
