Leicester City fan favourite shares emotional message as club mark Khun Vichai's birthday

Former Leicester City midfielder Vicente Iborra has sent an emotional message as the club marks the birthday of late chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

The chairman was one of four people to lose their lives in a helicopter crash outside of the King Power Stadium back in 2018. His son Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha has since taken control of the club to continue his father’s legacy.

European football has also been a regular fixture at the King Power Stadium in recent seasons.

Monday would have seen Vichai turn 64, with the club taking to social media to mark his birthday.

“Today we celebrate what would have been Chairman Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s 64th birthday,” they tweeted. “Happy birthday, Boss. Always In Our Hearts.”

That message prompted a big response from City fans, with one message from Iborra standing out. “Happy birthday Boss!!” He wrote. “A big pleasure to have met a person like you. Always present.”

Iborra was at Leicester for just 18 months after joining from Spanish side Sevilla in the summer of 2017, he left in the January of 2019, joining Villarreal. Despite his short time at the club, making just 37 appearances, he remains a fan favourite at the King Power Stadium.

City are set to mark Vichai’s birthday in the coming days, with a statue of the chairman taking shape outside of the King Power Stadium. The statue is expected to be ready in time for the next home match when City host PSV Eindhoven in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night. City are also at home next weekend as
