Leicester City Euro exit sparks fury as defender drops big contract hint

Leicester City's hopes of European glory are over after Jose Mourinho's Roma secured a 1-0 win at the Stadium Olimpico.

Tammy Abraham's header sealed the victory and ensured that Roma made the final of the Europa Conference League courtesy of a 2-1 aggregate victory. Leicester created little in front of goal in what was a tough night for Brendan Rodgers' side but it was the officiating of referee Srdjan Jovanovic that drew anger from the supporters.

The Foxes had legitimate claims for a penalty as early as the third minute when Chris Smalling appeared to impede Wesley Fofana, but the spot kick was not given. And while Leicester fans were not overly enamoured with their side's performance, it was the referee who was in the crosshairs of the fans on social media.

Leicester City have been tipped to have a ‘revamp’ of their squad in the summer transfer window, with players playing for their future in the Europa Conference League.

City are in semi-final action in the competition tonight (Thursday) as they take on Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. A win in Italy will see Brendan Rodgers ’ men book their place in the final and in with a chance of winning a second major trophy in two seasons.

Domestically, it has been a disappointing season for the side, who currently sit in 11th place in the table. They do though have two games in hand over most of the teams around them.

Rodgers has spoken of the need of a summer ‘refresh’ of his squad when the transfer window opens. TalkSPORT pundit Trevor Sinclair can see it being a busy window at the club.
