Leicester City transfer 'target' told 'to ignore the noise' by boss

Swansea City head coach Russell Martin has insisted that the "noise" surrounding striker Joel Piroe is "not going to distract him" ahead of the summer transfer window.

Leicester City have been reported as 'emphatically' following the former Netherlands youth international by outlets in the 22-year-old's native Holland in recent days. Piroe has scored 18 goals in the Championship this season for the side from South Wales.

Attacking midfielder James Maddison is City's top goalscorer across all competitions so far this season with 13. Jamie Vardy has 12 after struggling with injuries throughout the campaign and summer signing Patson Daka is also in double figures with 10.

Martin hinted earlier this week that Swans could cash in on their star centre-forward after just a season at the club. The former Norwich City defender has since stressed that there have been "no offers for him and no conversations about him" and now insists that such speculation will not prove to be a distraction.

"We’re going to talk about this for the next however long, my answer is going to be the same all the time," Martin told WalesOnline. "He’s here, he loves being here, we love working with him.

"He’s a fantastic young man, an excellent player and I still feel he has a lot left to give. It’s his first season in one of the toughest leagues in the world. The way he’s adapted to it has been incredible. He’s our player. He enjoys being here. That’s it. The rest is just noise. I tell the players all the time to ignore the noise.

"We’ll just keep taking it day by day and working with him as much as we can and he hopefully can keep producing the level of performances he has. It’s not going to distract him, that’s for sure."
