Leicester City competing for international defender who 'wants' transfer to England

Leicester City are said to be "monitoring" Beşiktaş defender Rıdvan Yılmaz ahead of a potential summer transfer.

The 20-year-old is a left-back who broke into the Beşiktaş first team from their academy in 2019 and has caught the eye of scouts across Europe. He is also a Turkish international teammate of Çağlar Söyüncü.

Yılmaz has scored three goals and assisted for from left-back in the Turkish top flight this season, attracting scouts from Leicester, Torino and Stuttgart to watch him in action for his club. According to TGRT Haber, the three clubs "will compete" for his signature in the summer. The player "wants to go" to England, it is said, with Beşiktaş expecting a fee of €10m.

The young defender could have left Beşiktaş last summer but opted to stay for Champions League football. It now seems that he is ready to move on.

His experience playing alongside Söyüncü for the Turkish national team could work wonders for City as they look to beat their rivals to a move. Manager Brendan Rodgers wants five or six news players in his side last summer, though a left-back is far from a priority at this stage.
