Leicester City 'advance' on PSG wonderkid as agent set for meeting with club

Leicester City are eyeing a summer transfer for Paris Saint-Germain wonderkid Arnaud Kalimuendo, according to reports in France.

The 20-year-old has scored 10 goals in 24 Ligue 1 games for Lens this season in his second consecutive loan spell. Such form is said to have caught the attention of clubs across Europe, with Leicester and Newcastle the most advanced in their interest.

Kalimuendo's contract at PSG is set to expire in the summer of 2024 and, despite his form, the chances of him breaking into the first team are slim. Mauricio Pochettino's men boast a ridiculous attacking line up which includes Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

A move to Leicester would make sense for the PSG youngster, who is also able to play on the wing as well as up front. That would suit Brendan Rodgers to a tee, as the manager loves players who are adaptable in the positions they can play.

His age means he suits the Leicester profile much better than other players the club have been linked with in recent months, several of whom have been over the age of 26.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Leicester face competition for his signature from Newcastle United - who of course boast fresh spending power after their £305 million takeover by a Saudi-led consortium back in November.

This process is likely to heat up in the coming weeks as the player's agent reportedly has a meeting scheduled with the PSG hierarchy to discuss his future. It is unclear whether that meeting will result in a transfer request or a new contract offer.
