Leeds United owner responds to Aston Villa collapse with £100m message

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has hit back at criticism of his running of the club in the wake of Thursday's 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

Villa eased to victory at Elland Road thanks to goals from Philippe Coutinho, Matty Cash and Calum Chambers.

Leeds have now lost their last six games and have not won since a 3-2 victory at West Ham United in the middle of January.

Radrizzani sacked Marcelo Bielsa at the end of last month following a 4-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur but new boss Jesse Marsch has not been able to turn things around yet, losing his first couple of games to Leicester City and Villa.

Now Leeds' majority owner has responded to those who have taken aim at his decisions in recent months while re-affirming his commitment to the club.

Writing on Twitter in response to criticism of his commitment, he said: "£100 million precisely. A lot of work and time sacrificed to my family.

"I always try and work hard for the best of the club.

"The moment I realise I won't be able to deliver I will let someone else do a better job.

"That moment is still far by the way. I believe in the team, the manager and everyone behind the club. MOT."

Leeds, who came up a year after Villa in 2020, play Norwich City in a huge relegation six-pointer on Sunday.

The Whites are in 16th place, only two points clear of Burnley a couple of spots below them and Sean Dyche's side have a couple of games in hand on them.

Marsch urged his Leeds players to stick to what they have been working on during training in matches.

"We just started trying a bunch of things that we never talked about and we have to stay to the plan," he said.

"If we don't do that then we are weaker.
