Leeds United confirm fifth signing of the summer transfer window as Victor Orta's plan continues

Reunited with Jesse Marsch for a third time, Tyler Adams is Leeds United’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window. The USA international has agreed terms on a five-year contract with the Whites.

RB Leipzig, currently awaiting a verdict on their long-running Jean-Kevin Augustin dispute with Leeds, agreed to sell Adams for an undisclosed fee understood to be £20m. Within 72 hours of Kalvin Phillips’s departure, the Whites have their midfield replacement.

The 23-year-old began his career with New York Red Bulls where he was given his Major League Soccer debut by Marsch in April 2016. They worked together again at the start of last season when the head coach arrived at Leipzig, where Adams was already in place.

Adams flew into the UK on Tuesday before completing the formalities of the transfer, including his medical at Thorp Arch, where he has already met some of his team-mates. He will now go through the same testing at Leeds Beckett University before joining in on the grass on Friday.

United’s new midfielder is not expected to be involved on Thursday night against Blackpool, but will, of course, be in Australia with the rest of the squad for the pre-season tour. He follows the arrivals of compatriot Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca and Darko Gyabi.
