Leeds now 'have hope' they can keep £85.5m duo at Elland Road

Leeds United have hope that they can keep Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha at Elland Road, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Both players continue to be linked with moves away from the Yorkshire club, but Jones thinks manager Jesse Marsch and owner Andrea Radrizzani will be feeling a bit more optimistic about retaining the duo after avoiding relegation.

Reports suggest that Phillips is emerging as Manchester City’s top midfield target.

According to the Daily Mail and The Telegraph, the Premier League champions are keen on signing the England international this summer as they look to replace the outgoing Fernandinho.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports has claimed that Barcelona are about to formalise their interest in Raphinha, who does not want to sign a new contract at Elland Road.

Currently, the Leeds duo are at valued at £85.5m combined by Transfermarkt.

With Leeds retaining their Premier League status thanks to their win against Brentford and Burnley’s loss to Newcastle United on the last day of the season, Jones thinks the Whites will now have a bit more hope when it comes to trying to keep hold of Phillips and Raphinha.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: “They need to sort out the Phillips and Raphinha situation quickly to know where they stand on both those players. I think now they’ll have hope, but how much hope we’ll have to wait and see.”

With Leeds guaranteed to be playing in the Premier League next term, Phillips and Raphinha remaining at the club for one more year would not be a catastrophe for either player.
