Leeds: Marsch 'looking at' key area before transfer window closes at Elland Road

Leeds United are looking at bringing in a new forward before the transfer window closes, according to Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton.

The Yorkshire club have had a busy summer, but Thornton says they are still considering signing a striker and have more than one option on their shortlist.

In terms of forwards who are currently being linked to Leeds, Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi is one name that has recently come up.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri claimed earlier this week that Elland Road could be a potential destination for the Belgian.

As well as Batshuayi, there has also been talk about FC Zurich’s Willy Gnonto. As per the MailOnline, the Whites have made an enquiry about signing the 18-year-old.

Gnonto has already played for Italy at senior level, winning four caps for the Azzurri, and reached double figures for goals last season. In 36 appearances for Zurich, he managed to find the back of the net on 10 occasions.

Thornton has told GIVEMESPORT that Leeds and Jesse Marsch remain in the market for a forward and have more than one name on their radar.

Speaking to GMS, the Sky Sports reporter said: “As things stand, that’s the area they’re looking at. Whether they’ll get anyone in will depend on whether the player becomes available.

“I think they’ve got more than one option, but it’s whether they can get one out. But obviously, as things stand, I think they’re more relaxed about the situation than maybe they were a few weeks ago.”

Right now, just fine. They just knocked Barnsley out of the second round of the Carabao Cup, which comes after that incredible 3-0 win against Chelsea last Sunday.

That day, the Whites were without Patrick Bamford, but Rodrigo stepped up to the plate and continued his fine start to the season.
