Arsenal: £60m star 'firmly not for sale' amid interest at the Emirates

Arsenal will tell their rivals that Gabriel Martinelli is “not for sale”, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Chelsea are said to be interested in the 21-year-old forward, but Jones cannot see the Gunners entertaining any offers for him.

The Daily Mail recently reported that Arsenal are in talks with Martinelli over a new contract.

However, according to the same outlet, the north London club will have to offer the Brazilian around £200,000 a week if they want him to sign an extension.

Martinelli has less than two years remaining on his current contract, which is thought to be worth £70,000 a week.

Should Arsenal fail to agree a new deal with Martinelli, Chelsea could make a move for him, with the Daily Mail claiming that they have the former Ituano player on their radar.

Jones doubts Chelsea or any other club will have any success if they decide to pursue Martinelli.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: "Martinelli is very important to the growth of the club as well as the team. And while there is various interest from various places at the moment, I think they would just firmly tell people that he's not for sale."

He is one of their best players; it is as simple as that. The Brazil international has been excellent for Arsenal this season, scoring four goals in his first 10 Premier League games.

His contribution has helped take Mikel Arteta's side to the top of the Premier League table and, at just 21 years of age, you would expect him to only improve.
