Leeds ‘have looked at’ deal for 42-goal star at Elland Road
Leeds United have looked at the possibility of signing Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz in the transfer window but are unlikely to push ahead with a deal, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.
Jesse Marsch has overseen a busy few months at Elland Road this summer but can still strengthen further ahead of the September 1 deadline.
The 23-year-old has attracted plenty of attention this summer after bagging 22 Championship goals last season, taking his career tally to 42.
Blackburn recently rejected a £10 million offer from Ligue 1 side Nice for the 14-cap Chile international, while the likes of Sevilla and West Ham are also interested.
It is understood that the La Liga side have seen a bid turned down as well, with the Lancashire side demanding £25 million for the striker, despite only having a year remaining on his contract.
According to Sky Sports News, Blackburn are set to fail in their attempts to tie Brereton Diaz to a new deal at Ewood Park, with the striker eager to explore opportunities elsewhere.
The report also details that the player would be interested in talking to Nice if a fee can be agreed before the deadline.
Jacobs understands that Leeds have looked into signing Brereton Diaz this summer.
However, the reporter also details that the move does not look likely to progress further at this stage with a number of worries emerging from West Yorkshire.
