Wolves: Deal for 187-goal star now ‘absolutely essential’ at Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers could solve their striking crisis at Molineux by bringing in free agent Diego Costa, with the club experiencing ‘desperate times’, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Bruno Lage saw new signing Sasa Kalajdzic injure his anterior cruciate ligament during his debut for the club on Saturday and is now seeking an immediate solution.

The Molineux faithful were finally witness to a Premier League win this season as they beat Southampton 1-0 in the Midlands.

However, a blow was still suffered when Kalajdzic was withdrawn at half-time with pain in his knee.

The club later confirmed that the summer signing from Stuttgart had suffered an ACL injury on his debut and is set to see a knee specialist.

They added that Raul Jimenez had also suffered a setback following his recovery from a knee injury, feeling pain in his groin during the warm-up on Saturday.

In the aftermath of this news, it emerged that free agent, and former Chelsea star, Diego Costa was undergoing a trial following his departure from Atletico Mineiro back in January, according to Sky Sports.

The report adds that Wolves are set to move quickly if the former Spain international impresses, with clubs still able to sign free agents outside the transfer window.

Jones believes that the experience and quality of Costa, who earned £31,000 per-week with Mineiro, could be exactly what Wolves need when going through a rocky patch.

Despite being out of the game for more than half a year, the transfer insider says the 33-year-old could still be the solution.
