Leeds: Fresh Victor Orta claim emerges after Elland Road footage

Leeds United director of football Victor Orta’s tearful celebration after the Whites’ late win over Norwich City was an outpouring of relief, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The victory allowed the Yorkshire giants to climb four points clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone.

Joe Gelhardt climbed off the bench to score a stoppage time winner against fellow strugglers Norwich and spark wild scenes at Elland Road yesterday.

It came after Canaries midfielder Kenny McLean had cancelled out Rodrigo’s opener in the encounter’s dying embers.

Gelhardt’s goal resulted in an outpouring of emotion from Orta, who has been working behind-the-scenes since being recruited from Middlesbrough in 2017.

Footage showed Orta was left in tears as Jesse Marsch notched his first win since taking charge of Leeds at the end of last month.

The victory allowed the Whites to end a run of six consecutive defeats and notch their first three-point haul since overcoming West Ham United in January.

Jones believes Orta could not hold back the tears because of the immense pressure he has been under thanks to the relegation battle and turning to Marsch to turn around the club’s fortunes on the pitch.

The transfer insider reckons the Spaniard will be keen for the late triumph over fellow strugglers Norwich to kickstart a fine run of form.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Honestly, I think it’s relief. I think there has been so much pressure around this decision.

“I think that was just a moment in which he will be believing and hoping that things are about to turn a corner.”

Marsch was unveiled as Leeds’ new head coach less than 24 hours after Marcelo Bielsa had been sacked by the Leeds hierarchy.
