Leeds 'consider move' for defender surplus to requirements and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Leeds United are weighing up whether to make a move for Manchester United defender Brandon Williams this summer, according to reports.

Williams, 22, is down the pecking order at Old Trafford in the left-back department. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are first and second choice in the position under Erik ten Hag.

Williams has come through the Academy ranks at United and has scored once in 51 games so far for the club. He spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Norwich City.

The defender is part of a clutch of several United squad players who could be sold to raise funds this summer. This group also includes the likes of Harry Maguire, Dean Henderson, Fred, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial.

Williams has played regularly for United during pre-season, but is unlikely to be a starter when the Premier League campaign gets underway. United begin their season at Old Trafford against Wolves on August 14.

According to the Independent, relegated Leeds, who United beat in the first game of their pre-season fixture schedule, are considering making a move for Williams. The Whites could offer Williams regular first-team football, but a move could depend on whether the defender is willing to drop down to the Championship, though he did work with Leeds boss Daniel Farke at old club Norwich.
