Leeds 'confident' over £120m duo's future at Elland Road

Leeds United believe they have a good chance of keeping either Kalvin Phillips or Raphinha this summer, while also attracting new players to the club, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Phillips and Raphinha have both been linked with moves away, but Jones does not think it is a foregone conclusion that they will depart Elland Road.

It looks like the Yorkshire-based club have a fight on their hands to keep two of their brightest talents.

Phillips is reportedly attracting interest from Manchester United, Tottenham, Aston Villa, West Ham and Newcastle, and the Villans could be willing to pay up to £60m for him.

Meanwhile, a number of high-profile clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester City, are understood to be monitoring Raphinha. Like Phillips, Raphinha is also valued at around the £60m mark.

In terms of incomings, Leeds are reportedly still targeting Red Bull Salzburg’s Brenden Aaronson, after failing to sign the midfielder in January.

Despite being involved in a relegation battle this season, Jones thinks Leeds still feel they can sign some big-name players this summer, and convince Phillips or Raphinha to stay.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think they’re confident that they could still convince players to join Leeds. They’re also reasonably confident that they could convince at least one of those two [Phillips and Raphinha], to still stay at the club.”

Both Phillips and Raphinha have gained international recognition during their time at Leeds, but with the World Cup fast approaching, they may feel they need to move to a club that is challenging for major silverware to ensure that they are on the plane to Qatar later this year.
