'There’s a good chance...' - Phil Hay drops huge Leeds transfer claim; 'quality' gem involved

Phil Hay has provided an important update regarding Leeds United‘s summer transfer plans.

Having endured a difficult campaign with injuries, results and the February departure of Marcelo Bielsa, there will need to be a wholesale reevaluation of the Elland Road squad during pre-season regardless of whether or not the club retain their Premier League status for next term.

Now under the stewardship of Jesse Marsch, the Whites remain in treal danger of relegation following a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City on Saturday and Everton’s win over Chelsea today.

However, despite the on-field plight, it appears that Leeds’ boardroom plans are already in full swing…

Speaking in a Q&A for The Athletic on Saturday, Hay admitted that Leeds are interested in three players.

He stated: “If Leeds stay up, they’ll try again to sign Brenden Aaronson from Salzburg. There’s a good chance of that happening.

“They want Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen and James Garner at Man Utd is someone they’ve looked at. I’d also expect them to look for another centre forward.”

Should Leeds retain their top-flight status, the upcoming transfer window promises to be an exciting one.

The squad is already in need of an overhaul and the recent speculation involving Kalvin Phillips, plus a major injury blow to Stuart Dallas, only heightens the need for top-level reinforcements.

One of the aforementioned targets, Garner was described as ‘quality’ by Martin Keown and has enjoyed a superb campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest, scoring four times and providing 10 assists in 44 games across all competitions, so he may be the one for Leeds to prioritise out of those three names.
