Leeds: £60k-a-week star 'the one that can save' Elland Road club

Raphinha is the one player that could save Leeds from relegation, according to Mirror journalist David Anderson.

The £40.5m-rated attacker has been the Whites’ standout player this season, and Jesse Marsch will be hoping that he can come up with the goods in their two remaining games.

It’s been an outstanding season on a personal level for the Brazilian, who’s already hit double figures in terms of Premier League goals and has been the one positive in an otherwise miserable campaign.

Raphinha, who earns £60,000 per-week, has found the net against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, while his most recent goal was a stunner at Watford.

But the 25-year-old, who’s been directly involved in 13 goals in 33 top-flight matches, has only scored twice since Christmas, which has played some part in Leeds’ slide down the standings.

Leeds still have two games left to try and avoid relegation, and Anderson reckons that Raphinha is the likeliest player to save them from dropping into the Championship following a two-year stay.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think he’s the one [who can make himself a hero], because he’s the one attacking, creative goalscorer, he’s already the top goalscorer.

“He has been Leeds’ best player this season, the one shining light.

“Whether it’s providing assists, scoring the goals or unlocking defences – he’s the one that can save Leeds.”

Given that the Brazil international could leave at the end of the season, he’ll be putting that extra 10 per cent into Leeds’ two remaining games to ensure that he leaves on a high.
