Leeds: £40.5m star now 'expected to leave' Elland Road

Leeds United fans’ favourite Raphinha has his sights firmly set on leaving Elland Road at the end of the season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Whites are at serious risk of dropping back into the Championship as they are just one point clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone, and it seems they could see Raphinha move onto pastures new.

According to 90min, Barcelona are preparing to push through a big-money deal which will take Raphinha to the Nou Camp despite putting talks on hold until the campaign’s climax.

The report suggests the seven-cap Brazil international is eager to join the La Liga giants despite additional interest from West Ham United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain.

West Ham tested Leeds’ resolve during the January transfer window, only to see their £50million bid turned down.

The Whites will fail to recoup anywhere near that figure if they are consigned to the Championship as it has emerged that Raphinha is among a host of players who had relegation release clauses written into their contract by owner Andrea Radrizzani.

It is understood that the 25-year-old winger could leave Elland Road for as little as £25million if his current employers fail to maintain their top flight status.

Jones believes Raphinha is frustrated by Leeds’ struggles, which have continued since Jesse Marsch’s appointment as head coach in February.
