Leeds: 58-goal South American 'one to look out for' at Elland Road

Leeds United have ‘definitely been offered’ New York City striker Valentin Castellanos, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Whites are known to be in the market for a new forward this summer following Patrick Bamford’s extensive injury problems and could put their faith in the talented 23-year-old.

According to 90min, NYCFC’s parent club Manchester City turned down the opportunity to sign Castellanos but have recommended him to a number of Premier League clubs.

It’s claimed that manager David Moyes sees Castellanos’ £12.8 million price tag as a risk worth taking, although it’s a fee Argentine admirers River Plate cannot afford.

Jones has revealed that out of Leeds’ transfer targets, Castellano is ‘the one to look out for’ and states that although he may not be a name that gets fans ‘particularly excited’, he has had a good year.

Castellanos is one of the hottest properties in MLS after winning the Golden Boot last year, racking up 19 goals in 32 regular-season appearances, and providing a further eight assists on top of that.
