“Perfect signing for David Moyes” – Journalist raves over “unbelievable” £60m West Ham target

West Ham United target James Ward-Prowse would be ‘a perfect signing’ for manager David Moyes, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Ward-Prowse only put pen to paper on a new five-year contract last August but is already being linked with a move away from Southampton due to his outstanding displays for the club.

A host of top Premier League teams have been credited with an interest in the 27-year-old since last season reached its conclusion, including West Ham.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the east London outfit ‘are tracking’ the England international, although they could find it difficult to fend off competition for his signature.

The likes of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are also believed to be in the running for Ward-Prowse this summer.

It’s little surprise that the engine room operator, who is believed to be valued at £60 million by the Saints, has so many admirers, though.

He notched up 11 goals and eight assists in 42 league and cup appearances last term despite Ralph Hasenhuttl’s charges struggling in the lower echelons of the top-flight table for large periods of the campaign.

A key asset of West Ham’s game is their threat from set-pieces, an area Ward-Prowse specialises in, and O’Rourke believes that makes him an ideal acquisition for the capital club.

He told GiveMeSport: “That’d be a perfect signing for David Moyes, I think, James Ward-Prowse.

“We all know how good he is from set-pieces, and we know how strong West Ham are from set-pieces, so he’ll just add another armoury to those set-piece routines with so many goals coming from that source for West Ham.”
