Leeds: £35k-a-week star now set for return vs Aston Villa at Elland Road

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford will now be in a ‘really good place’ at Elland Road after returning to action following yet another injury setback, according to Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton.

Jesse Marsch spent just shy of £100 million in the summer transfer window but has had to make do without his first-choice striker for some of the campaign so far.

Bamford has returned after missing two Premier League clashes with injury earlier this season, coming off the bench against Everton and Brentford in the top flight.

Due to recent postponements, the £35,000 per-week star has not played in a first-team match since but picked up 76 minutes of action in an under-21 clash with Southampton.

The 29-year-old scored a hat-trick in the 6-2 victory, saying after the game that it was ‘always nice to come off the pitch with three goals’.

After spending time on the sidelines, he added that the match was about getting back into ‘the swing of things’ and the flow of playing regular games.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo is recovering from a shoulder injury suffered against the Toffees and remains a doubt for Sunday’s clash with Aston Villa in the West Midlands.

Right-back Rasmus Kristensen also missed Leeds’ last Premier League clash after picking up a knock in training.

Thornton believes that the Leeds talisman will be in a good place after scoring a hat-trick with the youth team and having time to recover from injury.

The Sky Sports reporter told GIVEMESPORT when asked about Bamford: “I think they have tried to be quite patient with him because he’s had a few issues. Having had another week of training, and the fact that he’s got those three goals for the under 21s as well, that’s going to put him in a really good place.”
