Lee Bowyer full of praise for two of his players after an improved Birmingham City performance

Lee Bowyer’s Birmingham City travelled to Swansea yesterday for a game which saw them come out with a point after a 0-0 draw.

Going into the game, Lee Bowyer made five changes to the line-up from the team that lost 2-0 to Middlesbrough midweek.

Amongst the players who came into the squad were Juninho Bacuna who was rested midweek whilst Maxime Colin returned after a number of weeks out with an injury.

Bowyer was full of praise for these two players in particular, feeling as though Bacuna showed improvement in his game out of possession. He told Birmingham Live: “Bacuna was outstanding out of possession, but today I see a person that is improving on that side of the game.

“That’s my job, can I get more out of players? I thought he was excellent today he didn’t stop running, sometimes when a player comes off it’s not a punishment, you have run yourself into the ground and we put Taylor [Richards] on. I just feel for the players we couldn’t get the three points we deserved.”

Colin was forced to play out of position on the left side of the defence rather than the right but despite that, his manager was pleased with the performance he put in too as he said: “He is a machine isn’t he?

“He has been out a long time obviously injured then came back today, playing left-sided centre half like he has been there his whole career and he is a rich back. He cruised through the game, he made it look very simple.

“It’s good to have him back in and around it that’s for sure. He doesn’t grumble, he is a manager’s dream executes whatever instructions you give him, he just takes it and does it, no fuss, no questions, he is a dream to work with.”

The Verdict:

Birmingham definitely provided their manager and fans with a better performance
