League One permutations for Sheffield Wednesday and promotion rivals as season reaches defining fixtures
Sheffield Wednesday know that victory in their final two League One games will guarantee them a place in the play-off for this season.
The Owls currently sit just outside the top six following Saturday's defeat at Adams Park but have the chance to climb back above Wycombe, Plymouth and Sunderland should results go there way tomorrow evening.
Darren Moore's side make the trip to Lancashire against strugglers Fleetwood Town, with the Cod Army still battling to remain in the division following their recent 1-1 home draw with AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.
With Sunderland hosting automatic chasers Rotherham United tomorrow evening too, Wednesday can relax in the knowledge that even if the Black Cats over come their Yorkshire rivals, an Owls victory would easy worries heading into the final day.
MK Dons can still be automatically promoted and be crowned champions too, if both Wigan and Rotherham fail to win their final two games, but does look unlikely given the goal swing that is needed.
Sunderland can also be automatically promoted too but again would have to win both of their remaining clashes against the Millers and Morecambe this weekend, with a 10 goal swing also needed in their favour too.
Plymouth Argyle and Wycombe play their final games of the season this week hoping for the Owls to slip to ensure themselves a top six finish too, but with Moore's side beaten by the Chairboys just last weekend, nerves are again at all time high.
The Owls welcome Portsmouth too Hillsborough this weekend in what is set to an exciting end to the League One campaign, with lots still to play for in terms of the final standings, and twist and turns no doubt guaranteed.
