Latest Erik ten Hag sack odds as next Manchester United manager favourite emerges after Chelsea

Manchester United's 4-3 defeat to Chelsea has put more pressure on Erik ten Hag's long-term future at the club.

United looked set for a 3-2 win before Diogo Dalot clumsily conceded a penalty that Cole Palmer converted to make it 3-3 in stoppage time. Palmer then completed a remarkable hat-trick with another goal in quick succession.

The England international, who was unmarked, received the ball from a corner and hit a deflected winner past Andre Onana. The defeat was United's 12th in the Premier League so far this season, as the Reds missed out on the chance to close the gap to fifth-placed Tottenham.

"Yes we started poor, kicking the ball away and defending poorly," Ten Hag told TNT Sports after the game. "You saw we were dominating the game and it was brilliant how we played — we deserved to win the game. But, you cannot give it away like we did and we have to manage this game better.

"It is a team performance, you can point to one of the players but it is about team performance. When it gets chaotic you have to deal with it as a team and we made the wrong decisions and we didn’t help out as a team."

Following the defeat, bookmakers Sky Bet have placed Ten Hag as the favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave their club. Elsewhere, Gareth Southgate has emerged as the favourite to replace the Dutchman at 2/1.
